Solved IE8 slow to close

I searched for "IE8" and it said no results...find that a little hard to believe

Anyways, odd problem to have. After being logged into Winders for a little while, doing some surfing, etc., I'll go to close IE8, click the red x, and it'll just sit there for 5-6 seconds, and then finally close. If I log off and log back on, it'll behave properly, but sooner or later will start to act up again.

Anyone else run into this? I'm running IE7Pro, but I've been running that for a while now and this has only recently popped up.

This is probably because your plugins needing some time to close or you've got a corrupted BHO.

Do you have Adobe Flash Player? And Shockwave Player?

Flash, yes; Shockwave, I can only assume so. It's been so long since I've even heard the name Shockwave that I've forgotten how to check.

I'll try getting rid of IE7Pro and see what happens. I really hope that's not the problem, as it's quite a handy program to have around.

(also, OOPS at not seeing that browsers have their own subforum)

Welcome

Try this, go to tools, internet options, advanced, reset. This will remove all add ons. If you are working properly, you can reinstall them one at a time to find the culprit.

That worked quite nicely, thanks. Which is kind of annying, since now I'm out my ad-blocker, etc. I'll have to piece together everything that IE7Pro did :(
