TLS won't stay checked...

I'm a Soldier who uses AKO, which now requires that TLS 1.0 be used in order to see or login to the site. I've accessed this option from both inside and outside the browser, but the setting usually won't survive even a restart of the browser, much less a reboot. Anyone have any idea why?

Hello sleepyeyes and welcome to the forums

When researching your problem, I came across this which you may want to take a look at:

TLS 1.0 not staying selected

Tom,

Thanks for the reply. Resetting IE8 solved the problem for me.

Jay

No problem, I'm glad that I was able to help you, especially because you soldiers have helped us all so much.

And thank you! I have a good friend who's a squaddie in Kandahar, one of 2 British Soldiers working alongside about 150 Americans. Thanks to them, I drink hot tea with milk every day now!

Well, my problem resurfaced when I adjusted my settings to keep a 0 day history. I think the two settings are related somehow. Guess I'll have to suppress my privacy paranoia a bit if I don't want to have to readjust settings every time I log in to AKO. :)

Haha, I can't stand the stuff :(

If you are concerned about your privacy, then I would recommend that you install CCleaner:

CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

This program will delete your history, along with a range of other temporary files that windows and IE have gathered and will ensure that you have privacy.

From what we have been hearing in the news it sounds very difficult out there at the moment, so I would like to wish you and your friend the very best of luck in the future

As an FYI footnote here and for the information of anyone using McAfee security products. McAfee sometimes removes the checkmark from TLS 1.0 at reboot, in I.E. only, which is of concern to the US DoT and Military (DoD) users, amongst many others who use that protocol.

They are aware of this. The answer in the interim is to use Firefox, which keeps its TLS 1.0 settings.

Personally I can't reproduce the issue as the settings stay checked OK on my machine (IE8 in Vista and Windows 7 which has more than one TLS setting).

But am only posting this as other users of McAfee have reported this and are blaming the product although I can't reproduce it personally.

(I moderate their forum).
