Very Annoying Text Problem Help!!

Hi, I'm after some advice please.... Bear with me I'm not familiar with all the lingo... I seem to have made a change to either the fonts on Windows or my Internet Explorer (7) options that I can't reverse.

My main annoyance is that the problem affects viewing of my own website whereby now no matter page text size I apply (largest - smallest) the main body of the text (in Verdana font I think) stays exactly the same size and my menu bar running down the left of the web page is altered but very bunched up and sentences, now not on the same line. (As if I have made the web page too narrow).

A couple of weeks ago I tried to alter the page or text size in internet explorer which I think caused this problem but have been through everything I can think of to reverse it including resetting internet options.

What I have noticed is that if I set the page text size to smallest and then view any webpage with the Verdana (I think) font, Verdana stays the same size but all other fonts are reduced.... any ideas? I wouldn't be bothered but my website's menu bar is very messy now and very annoying! And no I haven't changed my own website's settings as I do all that off another PC.

Any help much appreciated

It may not fix your problem at all, but would you consider installing IE8 ?
You are a little behind in time. ( IE9 beta is already here.)
Maybe IE8 will resolve the problems ? Maybe not, but there is no downside installing IE8, I don't think.

Hi molezak,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

Please supply the link to your website so I can see what you're talking about (and I also use Internet Explorer - though I have IE9 beta - but I may still be able to see what you are talking about (as it may occur to me as well) and that would help me to see if I can identify the cause and a solution).

Also, in case it appears normal to me, please take a screenshot of your webpage showing all the problems and save it as a .jpg file and attach it to your reply (use the Go Advanced option when posting here to get to the Manage Attachments button and then just add the file and upload it). It will be easier to understand if I can actually see what you are talking about.

Thanks!

molezak, are you, by any chance, using Windows Live as the host of your website? I am, and had the same problem with the font size and style. The way that I solved the problem was to prepare the text in a Word doc, and make it look exactly as I wanted it. Then I cut and pasted my redesigned text into the editing section of the website, and it looked perfect. I was able to do the same thing with the images I have on my website. In your situation, a lot of what you're able to do will depend greatly on the way your website editing function allows you to edit your site, but try my method and see if it will be accepted by the site.
