Hi to everyone who reads this.

I have a problem in IE8 when I want to access a particular webpage, one I could visit without problems a while ago. It's like the items on that page are in a different format and the pictures on that site are also wrongly displayed.

On this site (Vista 64) or any other I don't have that issue.

To make things clear I'll add a screenshot.

Does anyone have an idea on how to resolve this?
Thanks for your effort and advice.

Regards Carlo

Hi Richc46

I did a Reset, cleaned the cache, cookies etc. with CCleaner and looked at the compatablity mode. Nothing helped.

And 'yes' to your question 'are you sure it's only one site?'

The Street is a financial kind of site and many articles on the web refer to them, and on Twitter nowbody seems to complaint about it, so I guess the problems lies with me...

If you look at my screenshot you'll see that there are some small squares with a red cross in it. I presume that are pictures, but i can't see them.
Maybe this is an indication of something...

Thanx for the help and best regards Carlo

Just to check, I just visited the site to see how it would display and it shows below. As you see, I had no trouble with it - so I don't think it's an issue with the website.

Just thought I'd help cross one possibility off the list.

Good luck!

Hi Lorien and Richc46

Yep, thats the page I was looking for Lorien.

I've tried several things and none of them worked, so far...

- Updated Java 32 and 64 bit.
- '' '' Adobe Flash and Shockwave Player.
- In IE8 on the Page tab I selected 'Auto Select' in the Coding section.
- Deleted all my Flash cookies.
- Cleaned again with CCleaner.
- Extra --> Advanced --> the selection box is checked for 'Show Pictures'.
- Tried with and without the Compatability mode.
- Did a complete Reset of IE8.

And now I'm dryed up of ideas, any suggestions guys?

You've tried quite a few things - possibly more than even I would have done. I'm running out of ideas as well.

Try the following:

Go to Tools / Internet Options / Security / Trusted Sites / Sites. Make sure the use https: box is NOT checked. Add this website as a Trusted Site. Close out of all Explorer windows and then open a new Explorer window and try the site and see if that helped.

Download and install Google Chrome Google Chrome - Get a fast new browser. For PC, Mac, and Linux and see if the problem occurs using a completely different web browser.

Are you using a favorites link to get to the site? If so, try typing the site name in directly and see if that makes any difference.

I hope one of these options helps.

Good luck!

The only point that I would like to make is that I am surprised. The combination of ideas presented by Lorien, myself and the MS link covers most areas, I am surprised if you could not get the page to load properly.
If you still have problems, make sure that you have cleared the cache properly.

Just a final thought trying a new broswer, as suggested by Lorien, should work.

Unless it is some sort of issue with the router, but I certainly can't think of any setting in the router which could cause this. It seems very unlikely to be the router, but do you have this same problem from other computers within the same house?

Have you tried Refreshing the Page? Also could you try in Compatability Mode by click on the Broken piece of Paper Icon next to the Refresh Button

Hope This Helps,

I'm having the same problem. I think it's only sites that run java script that aren't loading properly. All other computer's on my home network work perfectly. i'm running vista business 32 bit with service pack 2.

Please if you find out how to fix it, let me know!

Hi Lorien

Haven't installed Chrome yet.

Though I find it weird when I visit The Street and click on some random links I can get a full picture as it should be, but no text is shown, and when I click on an other link I get the same view as shown in my screenshot.
It's like something to do with some kind of format I presume, don't know for sure though. Maybe they changed their extentions for pictures or IE doesn't have their kind of extentions. Altough this doesn't explain why I can't see the text in an article too.

The thing is, I showed you a screenshot of when I accessed the site with IE and it worked fine - so the problem is something else. By testing with Chrome, I'm trying to see if the problem is IE or perhaps some type of network, security, or firewall setting or maybe even malware (which should affect Chrome as well). This helps us narrow down the possible causes and focus on what are the most likely problems and recommend options to address those problems.

I can't yet explain why you have trouble on that one and only site. We need more time and we probably need to do more tests and procedures before we get there.

Thanks and good luck!

Hi to everyone who helped me in this thread.

I just wanted to let you know that I've 'solved' my problem.
Although the measure was drastic, I did a reinstall of operating system.
Not because of this minor problem ofcourse, but hey it worked...

I guess it must have something to do with some setting in the security section of IE8...
Nevertheless many thanks to those who contributed.

See ya
