I have changed my setting to plain text and unchecked the reply to messages using the format in which they were sent box - The Arrows still appear on each line:mad:

My Computer

Hi,
Can you please give some more details?

cheers
Ash

I send an email. I want to forward the same email to someone else the text has arrows when I send it, like:
>I went to the store
>I got milk
>I got bread
>Etc
>Etc

The original message would be, I went to the store. I got milk. I got bread

Hi,

It is a normal function to differentiate between your message & the one you are forwarding.

i.e.

Your text (Third response)
>Thier text (Second response)
>>First text (Message starters text)

If you understand that, is there a specific issue you wish to sort out?

Well, I am trying to forward the same email to a difference person so I do not want the arrows. My point is - Occasionally it does not happen and up until recently it NEVER happened? So, something has changed and I want to change it back!

If you are using plain text (and that can depend on how you've set send messages to go - in a specific style always or in the same style they were received which may explain why this happens sometimes and not others when it may be using HTML instead), go to Tools / Options / Send / Plain Text Settings / and uncheck the box near the bottom to include the arrows. That should take care of the problem (I hope).

Good luck!

I think I have identified the problem. For some reason most of my "sent" emails appear in my sent box condensed, meaning, it seems like page margins are reduced to about a 3rd of the page or one line appears as 3 - does that make sense? Sometimes (1 out of 25) emails do not appear this way, they appear in the original format and I can forward those email with no arrows?????????? No Idea.

My Computer

Well,

Earlier you stated your version puts in the >'s when you don't want them. Correct?

My version does what it is supporsed to do, turn them off & they are gone. Turn them on & they are there.

Hence my comment of a "Bug".

As a thought have you considerred updating to the live mail 2011: -

OK,

Are they stored locally & on the server? If they are on the server you'll be fine as they will be loaded when you enter your address & sign in.

Otherwise let me look for exporting & re-importing them. This can be done quite easily.

Please note: -

They will not be deleted as both pieces of software will be installed & run side by side independantly.

Well,

I'm not sure how some get compressed & not all.

I would export the messages before tampering with the data!

Look here it may help?

Hi wirth,

I converted from Vista WM to WLMail 2011 recently and when I started WLMail 2011 it led me through the process of moving the data (not just the sent emails, but all the emails and the newsgroup information and the setup information and pretty much everything and I was up and running in 2011 in no time with no problems (and the original data remains in WM as well although I changed the default to WLMail 2011)).

I have no idea about this compression problem or how it relates to whether or not forwarded messages have the arrows or not and I quite honestly don't know how to solve those problems (and unfortunately, there aren't many resources in plain WM still available to research the issue). It is interesting and I agree as explained it does seem to be the cause or yet another symptom of whatever is the true cause - I'm not sure and have found nothing that concerns these two problems or how to fix them beyond standard procedures which you've already tried or been given links to further information. I can only say that converting will not only give you a better product, but it will also have much more support available (I know of several places that offer very good support already). I cannot guarantee that this will fix the problem (if the files have been alterered somehow, then smply exporting them even if using a new program may not solve the problem - but I'd say it is worth a try).

In any event, you'll still have WM with the same data so nothing will be lost (it's not like a typical upgrade) and at worst will be no worse off than you are now (and possibly will solve the problem by trying). You can always return to using WM and try the troubleshooting links Lottie provided to see if they help (though I doubt they are that specific or address the problem you've described now that you've added this compression aspect).

I hope this helps. For what it's worth, I'm extremely pleased I converted myself and have no intention of going back (but then again, I wasn't having a problem with WM either so I'm not sure how that will affect things).

Good luck!
