Live Mail 2011 Stationery

Since Live Mail 2011 does not has a Stationery tool, is there any method available to insert a stationery template into a new email message?

Not specifically, but there is a workaround that may accomplish what you want (even if it isn't very convenient).

There is nothing in the UI to do what you want. However, if you know the appropriate HTML you can modify a draft and send that (which means first making sure that drafts are not sent immediately). Actually there is something in the UI which facilitates such a procedure: if you use the Two-line view for Message lists you can find the full path to a file via right-click, Properties.

Later once you have copies of messages sent using the "template" you want, you may be able to open these emails and merely delete the text and e-mail details and have the rest of it looking the way you want - but I'm not certain about this. Deleting the message may delete the coding at the same time - but I suppose once you have an example to work with, it's worth a try to see if it simplifies things or doesn't work as I am hoping.

Sorry, but for some unknown reason, they removed the option from WLM 2011. I don't know why, but I do know it cannot be simply restored or resolved with some minor registry modification. Using the above workaround (and once you have a set of HTML codes for different "stationery" types, it may become simply a matter of cut and paste with the appropriate code - though to be honest I haven't tried this and I'm not sure if it can be done that easily or if the coding needs to be done on a case-by-case basis with some editing involved beyond a simple paste). Still, it's the only workaround I'm aware exists at this time.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Thanks for the link. It's seems unfortunate that the upgrade to Live Mail 2011 resulted in eliminating some features in previous versions. I guess they were considered unnecessary.

Sorry for the typo (...does not has... should have been ...does not have...). I proof-read messages, but missed this one.

Thanks again for your reply.

Using the above procedure, which will probably be successful, be sure to back up registry and make a system restore point first.

Softshell, TY for your kind words, very nice of you.

Lorien,
Thanks for your suggestions. I'll try modifying a draft to see what happens.

I had already selected a message we received with stationery and chose forward to a new contact and then deleted the original message, inserting my own. Unfortunately, the only thing included in the new email after it was sent was the blue background from the stationery and the new message--no graphics from the original.

Thanks again.

Thank you. You're quite welcome - it was my pleasure. I hope it works for you even if it is quite a bit more complicated than just copying the message (even using a draft rather than a received message) - you DO need to amend the HTML code. Just because it is a draft won't change the fact that the HTML code needs to be changed to include the features, pictures, background and other "stationery" items you want to include. From your post, it seems that deleting the message text deletes a majority of the "stationery" code at the same time - so it needs to be added back into the new message for it to appear correctly.

I hope this helps.

Good luck and best wishes!
