Brummy fan is correct, based on this article

Nice find, it's about time IE caught upI prefer IE9 now but the only reason that I don't use it is that there isn't a stable release of Adobe Flash Player for IE9

I finally installed the download and it is actually noticeably faster - though I've yet to detect any other significant changes (good or bad) - but it's been only 30 minutes so...
Now I have to see if I can get Quicktimes and iTunes to properly install (since I've no intention of using the Adobe Flash Player beta given all the warnings and the need to manually update and then uninstall when it's finally released - I can't figure out why Adobe couldn't keep up with IE9 when "lesser" companies seemed able and I imagine they had plenty of lead time). I was having trouble with the automatic update feature (it would error out on me every time) - but maybe if I do it manually (as it suggests if that happens) I'll have better luck. We'll see. I don't use these products much, but see a few questions about them so I want to experience the installation and use the programs a little just to be able to help more with such issues.
Now let's hope this update doesn't create problems I didn't have before (as we know some updates do tend to do - especially when they're still in beta). At least it didn't crash the registry when installed like happened to Richard before he got it sorted out.
That was shocking. Admittedly I forced it on when it really did not want to install on my computer, but I should not have had problems, gone into the registry, and found several CurrentVersion keys completely empty. Let us hope that Microsoft are not just tiding that one, and have actually found and fixed the issue. Well done System Restore!

Here'a a minor bug. After the update, if you go to Tools / View Downloads you'll find that the list has been cleared. The files are still in the default location, but only those installed AFTER you did the upgrade appear in this list. I've found no way to refresh the list to add the other downloaded files. It's as if the Clear List button had been pushed. While annoying and just a little inconvenient (and not what I would have wished), it really isn't that big a deal since you can get there by going to the default folder (which for me is Downloads in my user profile).
And we had that issue a few days ago (well, I think it was richc46, but it could have been someone else, not me) who deal with a Windows Sidebar issue finally blamed on IE9 Beta. Seems a bit odd though. Windows Sidebar, IE9 beta. They do share some common libraries owned by IE9 though, so it is just about possible. I know what you mean about a cleared list. Accidentally clicked it on my Firefox a few weeks back. Very annoying, but I just have the make the best of it!
Man this update did alot for ie9...... It fixed all d/l issues I had, especially with pdf files.
Tried the beta and can't wait for the RTW version.
