problem w/Documents> Send To> Mail Recipient

Hi,

I click on File on the Firefox Toolbar Menu> Documents open> right click a file> Send To> Mail Recipient. Windows Mail doesn't open.

Windows mail is set as the default program.

I set permissions in Program Files and AppData so I should be able to run Windows Mail without any problem.

I installed WMUtil, but when I ran it as administrator, I was told to "Close Windows Mail to enable. I did so, restarted the WMUtil program, but got the same message. Maybe this might have something to do with the fact I tried several times to send a file from my Documents by right clicking on the file> Send To> Mail Recipient. I don't know. When I open the Task Manager, I see WinMail.exe process is running, but I don't know whether I should end that process.

I am using Windows Home Premium Service Pack 2 and Firefox 3.6.13 Browser. When I open Firefox Tools> Options> Applications the Mail To option is set to Windows Mail.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions that might resolve this problem. I used the search feature to try and find an already submitted question, but there were so many posts that I thought I'd just go ahead and ask.

Hi richc46,

Thank you for your suggestion. I installed it, but I have to admit I didn't know how to configure the information when I clicked on the addon's options. As I wrote, I'm using Windows Mail, but how to specify that is a mystery to me. Can you advise? The addon options also said something about Yahoo Mail, and I'm not sure about that because I don't use Yahoo.

It would be ideal if a forum user could offer a solution that remedies the problem without the use of a Firefox addon, not only for me, but for people who use other browsers.

After searching, it is my opinion that the best way to solve the problem is to consider using IE8

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your suggestion, but I'm really used to using Firefox.

I actually resolved the problem, though. I visited a webpage in Vista Forums called Windows Mail Problems http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/62560-windows-mail-problems.html and though I didn't think the first ideas applied to my problem, I saw #4 on the list and thought it might be worth trying. #4 says that a Windows Mail account can be corrupted, and that the thing to do is to back up the email messages, delete the account, and then recreate the account. It worked.

Again, thank you for your help.
