An add on for this site failed to run

Check the security settings in Internet Options for potential conflicts.

I am receiving this error code when using Internet Explorer 8 with Windows Vista. I have tried to revert back to IE7 and it shows a similar error code but mentions active x.

I have went through and adjusted all of the internet security settings. I have went to adobes site and looked through their help section. i uninstalled adobe the way adobe recommended and reinstalled it manually.

I went to manage add ons to ensure that shockwave flash was enabled. I have enabled all of the active x controls in the advanced settings. I am still getting this error code.

I am taking an online computer through myitlab.com and contacted their tech support and they failed to mention anything else to try. I followed all of their recommended settings. I set up the websites in the trusted sites area and still get this error code.

My windows vista is a student edition that is 32 bit. Is this a windows vista problem? I have no idea what else to try.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi jonpridgen,

    Welcome to Vista Forums!

    Try reviewing the following article:

Tips for solving problems with Internet Explorer
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Tips-for-solving-problems-with-Internet-Explorer

If that doesn't resolve the problem, then try the following two procedures in the order presented:

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode [Applies to IE7 & IE8 in all OSS]
    http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings (RIES)?

How to troubleshoot Internet Explorer issues in Windows Vista and in Windows XP

Hopefully, one of these procedures will resolve your problems with IE.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
