Windows Mail Folders Cleanup

In preparation for moving my Windows Mail on my Vistax32 to Microsoft Outlook on both Vista and my new win7x64 I would like to clean up my WM folders.

My Windows Mail has many imported folders from 10 years of importing and exporting from machine to machine. Though these folders display properly, alphabetically and with all their sub-folders, in my inbox, in my store folder they are spread out thru all the imported folders and very hard to find.

Is there a way I can get rid of all these imported folders so that my folders are correctly listed alphabetically in the store folder, too? Perhaps by making new folders and dragging/dropping the old folder's messages into them, then deleting the old folder?

That way I would hope I could import all of my folders into Outlook removed from the imported folders that are in my WM store now.

Welcome
I have Windows Live Mail 2011; thats the most current version.
When I right click on a folder, I get a delete option (among others). Does this work with Windows Mail? I do not actually know if delete works, since, I do not want to delte my folders. If you do not have that option and this is what you want, you may consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail 2011 and then performing the task.

Yes, I do know how the folders can be deleted. I'm just wondering if there might be a better way of doing it than making new folders for all my folders just to get rid of all the imported folders in my store.

Once I get these WM folders cleaned up, I'm importing into Outlook because I need to be able to sync my Outlook on 2 computers. WLM only syncs thru hotmail and it's limit is only 10 gbs for the free account. My folders amount to way over 10 gigs.
