I'm currently running Windows Explorer 7. This morning my update menu appeared offering 1 important update, Windows Explorer 9. I'm running Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Is WE9 stable at this point? Should I install it , and if so what are the advantages over WE7? Thanks....Fred

Re: Windows Explorer 9

Yes, you should update. I am currently using 9 and find that it has more features, better security and easy to learn.
You can always make a system restore point, first, to go back in the event that you are not satisifed.
The big advantage is the improved security.

For those that have 64 bit OS

Install 32 bit IE as default, if you have 32 bit or 64 bit OS. It is faster and better. If you should need 64, (rare) it will be available. That is what I did.
(FOR OTHERS)
FRED: You need 32 aka 86.

No and do not worry Protected Mode is on but will not show because IE9 Is meant to be more 'Slick'

Thanks...one other thing. One of the replies I got on this thread said that some components of IE9 were downloaded separately. When I cliked on download it just installed and that was it...no separate software as someone suggested. I was told I may have to download some components manually if they didn't get installed with the initial installation. How can I tell if I have everything I'm supposed to? It seems to be working ....Thanks
