I tried IE9 x64 version without Bing several weeks ago on my Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 and was a very unhappy camper. Found it to be very slow and features did not work correctly at all including Flash. IE9 search took over with 'Bing' for a search provider and I was unable to choose anything else. Finally reverted back to IE8.

Someone told me that I should have used the x86 version instead....is that true? Does IE9 download two versions and one chooses what they wish?

I also have a Laptop with Win 7 HP SP1 x64 and I have not installed IE9 on that either based on the experience I had with the Vista install.

Any suggestions greatly apprecated.

For those that have 64 bit OS, Install 32 bit IE9 as default.

If you have 32 bit or 64 bit OS. Install 32 bit IE9 as default. It is faster and better.

Totally agree. I have been suggesting this for a while now. It is good to note that, when needed 64 will be available.

Yea! Well it's my turn this weekend to give IE9 a try on Win 7 x64.
Already installed it on my daughters Vista Premium X 32bit, impressed!
No problems so far. Lots of good things, but best for me:- Being able to pin Hotmail to the taskbar !! YEA!
You'll like it.

For the record, ie9 x64 can NOT be set as default. MS only lets you do x86.

Also, flash for x64 is still Beta and has to be selected specifically.

I've been on ie9 x64 for months wth only minor site issues.
