When I navigate to "Customize Start Menu" and place a check mark in the "E-mail link" box, nothing is displayed in the dropdown next to it. Windows mail used to be there, but is gone now. Windows mail is my default e-mail client. How do I get it back in the dropdown box so I can select it?
Thank you.

Suggestions :

1. If you do know a date when you did NOT have this problem, then do a system restore and pick that good date as your restore point.
Start button > search box, type system restore >press Enter key > uac prompt > click Choose a different restore point > Next > select the date as your restore point, click it > Next > Finish
Sit back and wait. The machine will re-start when it is done.

2. If system restore is not possible, please do a system file check. It is to look for corrupted files, and if found, it will try to repair them.

Start button > search box type cmd > look up, RIGHT click on cmd.exe > click Run As Administrator > in that black and white cmd window, type at the flashing prompt sfc /scannow > press ENTER key.
Note : there is a Space between "sfc" and "/".
Sit back and wait. It will take some time.
When done, exit cmd window.
Reboot ( re-start your computer )

In addition.....

Run a full virus scan with the program you have installed.
Just to be sure.

Hi welcome to the Forum. Sorry to hear you have a problem.
Have you recently upgraded the system in any wy? Major program downloads of any kind, after windows updates, IE 8 - IE9, or anything like that?
Maybe check the defaul settings, make sure they're OK?
