Can receive, but not send mail

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '[email protected] '. Subject '', Account: 'Lists', Server: 'smtp.q.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '501 5.5.2 RCPT TO syntax error', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 501, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

And, my server requires authentication, is checked. I've also tried turning off my virus protection and sending. No luck. Should mention, not just my machine, but another machine in the house as well. Problems sending from all accounts (ie, juno, q and hscseminars.org)

Hello mpsmom, welcome to the forum.

You can check several things to help resolve being able to receive but not send e-mail messages.

1. Outgoing SMTP server requires authentication: Just check that My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box is selected in your email account.

2. Outgoing SMTP server requires Secure Password Authentication (SPA): verify that the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box is selected.

I think, these link may help you to resolve your problem.

Why can I receive email, but not send any?

Cannot Send Email

Thanks.
Arvin

TY. Seems there might of been multiple issues going on at once... 1. was a space added to an e-dress, so it was <[email protected] >. I took the space out and could send from that address again. The juno addy, apparently they changed their SMTP port to 587 and neglected to tell ppl. I still can NOT send from a domain address and I'm thinking maybe it is a port issue as well since it is affecting 2 different machines.
