Using an FTP server through your browser

Hi folks.

I do not know if this is common knowledge,
but the story goes as follows :
Recently I tried to upload a file to my website.
But apparently that wasn't possible,
because I got the message :

Internet Explorer can not upload the file because it is too big.
Use an FTP program to upload large files.

I already had tried to upload files with Filezilla in the past,
and not only that it didn't work, but it also screwed up a few things on my Computer.
I had to remove Filezilla, and run a Restore Point to fix my PC.
Frankly, all I needed was a program, that allowed me to upload large and multiple files to my website.
Using a complicated FTP program was not what I had in mind.
So I began to search the net for an FTP program that would not require an installation.
Something so simple that you would be surprised that it existed.
I did not expect to find something,
when suddenly I was reading some interesting info on a website.
It appears that you can use your browser as an FTP server.
It was as if I had found the egg of Columbus.
Armed with the information obtained,
I wrote a small program that can set up an FTP server through your browser.
Well, that's it.
I hope this info can be useful to someone.

Kind regards
Sweet

Hello Sweet!

Have you considered making a tutorial for this?

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/

What a great little tool you've made there. Not only am I amazed at your tool, but your English is phenomenal! You're better spoken than several English people I know - that post is perfect in terms of spelling and grammar.

You must have the highest rep to posts ratio on the forums, Vista Guru at less than 100 posts!? That's truly amazing

Hey Tom

Those are really kind words.
I just try to help as much as I can.
And I must say, I'm really inspired by all the friendly helpful members on this forum.
Finding the Vistax64 Forum was one of the best things that happened to me,
and I am proud to be a member of it.
Do you really think it's a good idea to make a tutorial on that ?

Sweet :)

Yes, as Josh said, you're input is valued no matter how small/big it is - well assuming it doesn't go over the server's limits!

It will make it easier for people to access your tool and know how to use it as they may come across it whilst browsing the tutorials section. I've written a few tutorials and its nice to think that nearly 5000 people have benefited from my tutorial :)

Hello!

That is actually a very nice tool! I have spent many an hour faffing around with Explorer doing this with my website (for those few who don't know, you can actually type an FTP address into Windows Explorer, it will ask for credentials, and then you can use the Windows Explorer interface to make changes to your website)
