flash content in IE

Hi all. Having problems loading flash content in IE on a 32 bit vista machine, but the same websites & flash content load fine in firefox on same machine. Here is what I have tried so far:
  • remove and reinstall flash latest version
  • made sure flash plugin is enabled
  • disabled all AV/malware sofware and plugins
  • cleared internet & flash cache
  • upgraded from IE7 to IE8
  • used IE's reset function
Any suggestions to get this working again please? Thanks!

Hello tinyang and welcome to the forums

Well you've tried most of the things I usually suggest, but I've got a few more:

Firstly, try upgrading to IE9:

Internet Explorer - Microsoft Windows

Secondly, try running a SFC scan:

SFC Scan

  1. Open the start menu
  2. In the search box, type cmd
  3. Right click on cmd and select Run as administrator
  4. In command prompt, type:

    sfc /scannow

  5. Let it run and let me know if it finds any Integrity Violations

Hi Tom and thanks for your reply. I did run the system file checker and it did not have any integrity violations. It did say that 'found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them'.

Before I try going to IE9 (which has not been approved for production machines in our corp environment yet), I need to ask why that would fox the problem if going from ie 7 to ie 8 did not fix the problem?

Thanks.

I did try IE9 just to illiminate it as a solution, and still have the problem. I will have access to the machine again tomorrow and post the file you ask for. Thanks for your help. :)

Here is the file you asked for. I only see anything about the sidebar in it though. Thanks again for your help.

No problem, glad that I'm able to help you

That's normal, for some reason the sidebar always shows up like that :)

I would suggest removing any version of Flash Player you have installed with RevoUninstaller:

Revo Uninstaller Pro - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs easily

Let it clean up all of the files and registry keys it finds in its scan

Then use TFC to clean out your temp files:

3. Clear Temp Files

  • Download TFC (By OldTimer), to your desktop.
  • Save any open documents, then close any active programs/windows
  • Right click on the file, and select Run As Administrator
  • When it opens, click Start to being the process
  • A reboot is required upon completion of this, if this is not done by TFC then do so manually

And then install the latest version of Flash player :)

What Tom has suggested is the best for his purpose.
Ccleaner is great, but TFC will clean out more files. You will lose all of your cookies, though, regarldess of your settings.
Cookies that remember web pages, IDs, passowords etc.
I have found that one flaw in TFC, but the settings in Ccleaner work fine. The choice is yours.

OK, I managed to bypass firewall and download the utility (wonder why was getting flagged for a worm?)

But after all of that, the browser is still having the same problem. :(

Ever the willing student, what do you recommend for me to try next? :)

I chose TFC simply because it's a bit harsher, perhaps we should have tried with CCleaner first. But I thought I might as well save some time :)

I don't know why it was detected as a worm, what AV/firewall are you using?

Did you do the steps with Revo?

That's odd, well I'm sorry to say that I'm all out of ideas, all I can suggest is that you go to the Flash Player forums:

Adobe Forums: Forum: Flash Player

Unless Richard has something else to suggest?

My suggestion is to read and follow carefully the solutions that I presented in my first post. I really thought that would be the solution to the problem.

Thanks for all of your help guys. I'll try my luck in the flash forums since everything I've tried so far here is not working. I want you both to know how much I really appreciate all of your help despite it not panning out for me! One more time, I'm going to post the issue shown on a different webpage:
