Missing E-mail and Folders

I am using windows vista home. One day I opened windows mail and found all my e-mails that I had in the inbox gone and replaced with a handful of e-mails from 18 months ago. Additionally, two thirds of my personal folders are missing and the ones that are still there have no e-mail in them. I found two "sent" e-mails from 18 months ago also. This looks like windows mail when I first got the computer, about 18 months ago. I have already checked (view, current view, show all messages is checked) and they are not hiddend or in any folder that is currently available when I open windows mail. Note: all my e-mails since I came upon this problem are still in the inbox and have not disappeared. I did not make any changes immediately prior to this problem but I am not sure about automatice updates. Any ideas?

No matter what happened they are still on the hard drive. Even when you delete something it remains, just cannot be accessed.
Try this and it will work, if you have a restore point that goes back far enough
