Windows Security / Email

Hi, I'm new and have just stumbled across this forum, I desperately need help!

I am using my laptop with Vista and recently installed Office 2010. I thought I would sort out my email and use Windows Mail. I have added my account, copying all the properties/settings over ie. pop settings etc.

Windows Mail sometimes works ok but other times it asks me for Username and Password and I enter them over and over again to no avail, it just will not work! I have managed to send/receive emails, seems to be an intermittent problem and it's so frustrating as to why it only asks sometimes for this info via Windows Security box..? Anyone got any ideas...please? How do I get rid of this Windows Security popping up?

Many Thanks.

Welcome
Dont worry and just enjoy. It happens to me, too and I am sure others. That is caused by your email provider, a temporary glitch in the system. It usually will be fixed in less than a few hours and most times even less. Dont try to solve the problem, any changes that you make will only make it worse
Good luck

Thanks Rich and really is that all it is? It happens often (almost daily....?) and if I access my email using IE it's fine and I can pick up my mail there?

Who is your email provider?
There are two ways to get your mail, you can go right to the website or use Windows Mail. The email provider allows you to use Windows Mail and not all do. The email provider has to have settings to allow this. Sometimes they malfunction.

I looked online for complaints about the service, because I could not find any does not mean that the service is dependable. I will stick to my guns and say that the problem is with the server, but of course there is only one way to be sure. Try another email provider.
I use GMX.com. It is a German Company with an affiiate in the US, its 99% dependable. You may, for a test, open an account there and then test your email client. If its more dependable, you can change, if not post back and I will look into this further.
Whatever the outcome, I do wish you luck

Rich
