My Internet Explorer (7.0) is running really slooooooow. It seems like it takes forever
to load pages. My machine is fast and another browser (Chrome) runs fast and smooth.

Any ideas where I should start looking to cure this???

Run the IE widout Add Ons and check if the IE is working fine.
Try Reseting the IE.
Go to Tools and Internet Options and click on Advanced tab and Click on Reset Tab.
Delete the Temp Files from the computer(Download CCleaner if you find it difficult to find the Temp Files location in the computer)

First we need to check weather you have service pack 2 installed or not. If you have service pack 2 installed then install the Internet Explorer 9 as IE9 needs SP2 to be installed.

If you don't have SP2 then follow the steps below:

  1. Open Internet Options by clicking the Start button
    4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_47.png
, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Internet Options.
  2. Click the General tab, and then, under Browsing history, click Delete.
  3. Under Cookies, click Delete cookies, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to delete them.
  4. Click Close, and then click OK.
This should work.
