Morning, tell me, does your ISP provide mail service and you use it as default mail provider in Windows Mail ? I have comcast and they have a mail service called outlook which has now been changed around a bit, but, i had an online chat with Comcast reference setting my mail up in Windows Mail as my default mail provider. Went into the tools tab and had me set some port settings and such, Would it help you to contact your ISP for any assistance ?

Thanks for the reply. Have had the same provider for 7 years. Have no trouble with email on my XP system. settings the same XP or Vista. Had no Vista problem until I installed a bunch of updates over the last several months...including Explorer 8.

Tell ya what, this is a strange one . Do this. start, all programs, accessories, right click command prompt, select run as admin. In the command prompt, type with out the arrows. < sfc /scannow > press enter and post back if this fixes any corrupt dll files .

sfcdetails.txt . when done type that in the search window in the start button. and open in notepad or such and in that you see what was not repaired. Just curious as to how yours came out.

Hi ,
Sorry it took so long to return your suggestion...holidays will do that! I ran the scan and it repaired quite a numbe of items. The message was "Found corrupt files and repaired them." Looked at the CBS.log...the only log I could find pretaining to the scan. Now time will tell if the problem is resolved.
Thanks mucho from Cochise County, Arizona.

Hi Yard Dog,
Mail has stopped 3 times since I ran the scan. Have noted that two of the times of malfunction occurred after sending a message. Also noted that message hung in the outbox as a "void" message...that is, trying to send it again resulted in a 'message could not be found" error message. However, had no problem deleting the void message.
Thanks again.
