Assertion Failed in Live Mail after update

After the 11 January Windows update, when I access windows live mail 2011 gives me a message:

"Assertion Failed" and a page full of gibberish. I can access the email but when I try to send I get a "No registered JIT debugger was specified" message. My other computer with windows live mail that was not updated two days ago works fine.

I have attempted a Windows live mail repair, repaired all the NET frameworks and have checked and have all the windows updates. I also ran sfc/scannow and it reported no problems.

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I did not have a restore point pior to the problem starting. I should add that I also ran Malwarebytes and a full virus scan with Kasperskiy. No other programs on my computer are affected by the Assertion failed message--only Live Mail

Thank you for the suggestion but surely there must be a fix in the microsoft community for this problem since my google search revealed it to be prevalent over the last several years; often occurring after a windows update. However, no solution other than uninstalling and installing the windows live which did not always work.

I would also note that when I attempt to send a message I get a "failed to initialize shared canvas" message.
