windows mail/iphone

I have recently started using an iphone 3gs, my ISP is Sky, i use windows mail to open/read/send all my mail, I can do all this on the phone, but if i do then my sky account fails to forward my mail to windows mail. any ideas as to why this happens (or dosen't)
