Windows Live Mail Hacked; Inbox flooded

Greetings. I have a Lenovo Y530 laptop running Vista Home Edition. My Windows Live Mail was hacked. Initially, I was not able to send or receive messages. This past Monday, I opened the program and my inbox is being flooded nonstop with messages. I can't see any of the messages, just the numerical count keeps increasing.

I have changed my password and security settings, but the problem continues. I'm sure this is a common problem but I haven't been able to find a solution online. Any detailed advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

p.s. I am not using Hotmail. My ISP is AT&T and my AT&T webmail is running fine.

Did you try to run any scans on the system to check for possible infections.
Try and setup your account using a different Email client and then check for the same thing again

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I ran a scan specifically targeting the drive storing my Live Mail program and it was clean. I did set up another account on Live Mail and set it as the default. The problem persisted. :(

Don't use live mail try and use a different application like Mozilla Thunderbird and check on that.
