Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Mail, has been working fine for years. Two days ago, all e mails arrived empty. I get the email but there is no content. Attachments arrive fine. When I open a new email to send, I am unable to enter text. email opens but won't accept text. The night prior to this we had a power outage. But I have a suge protector and the rest of my computer worlks fine. Am able to receive complete emails via my ISP but not Windows Mail. Any ideas? Than you in advance.

Hi Hewilson2,

To isolate the issue please provide the following information:
1. Were there any changes made on the computer?
2. Did you perform any troubleshooting steps?
3. Did you try to perform system restore to an earlier date when the computer was working fine?
4. If no, please refer the following article to perform system restore: System Restore - Microsoft Windows

NOTE: With system restore you will not lose any data from the computer, any new programs installed in the computer has to be reinstalled on the computer.

For any clarifications feel free to contact me.

The computer is otherwise working fine. The only issue is Windows mail. I didn't make any changes prior to the onset of the problem and have not done a system restore. Of note, there was a power outage the morning the problem began but I use a surge protector and have had no other problems with the computer.

The power outage corrupted Windows mail. I think if you upgrade as suggested or use a new email client, you will be fine.

Hi Hewilson2,

In addition, if you want to use Windows Mail on computer, check if the settings in Windows Mail are correct:

1. Select Tools | Options from the menu.
2. Go to the Read tab.
3. Ensure Read all messages in plain text is unchecked.
4. Click OK.

If issue persists, back-up all the important e-mail and then try to delete the email profile and reconfigure the email.

Please post the results.
