Anybody who has used this software please enlighten me how simple it is to use, i have used windowblinds and it completely ruined my system, chucked me in a guest account and removed my password so i couldnt log in, thusly i had to repair my installation via vista DVD. so, will this software do the same to my system or is it good?
fyi, i wanted this theme > http://skins2.wincustomize.com/1MrPAul1/wb/6655.jpg

WindowBlinds should be a valuable lesson...
Learn to customise yourself and don't install an eye candy app that takes over system functions.

This is just my opinion and not meant to be construed as an all in one answer.

Vista Glazz is all right, but it's probably a good idea to manually backup and then patch your themeui.dll, uxtheme.dll, shsvcs.dll, AND browseui.dll, shell32.dll. Some themes require the last two files to be patched as well.

Also it's a good idea to create a manual restore point before applying new themes. The one file that will knock your desktop out is shell32.dll, so make sure the theme has a SP1 version. In fact, make sure all files are for SP1.

that just looks like unnecessary bloatware to me, all i want is to enable a theme, i may go for the patching option, but where do i go to patch?

Sorry mate, here:

Patched UxTheme Files for Windows Vista SP1 - WinMatrix

These are for SP1 only. These won't work if you have SP2 Beta installed.

You don't need to patch browseui.dll or shell32.dll BUT MAKE COPIES! Some themes have bad / incompatible files that will leave you with a broken desktop ;)

lol, I tanked it a few times with dodgy themes. That's why I recommend copying the originals. I learnt the hard way :p

Learn to customise yourself

How does one do this beyond the scope of the provided UI from Microsoft?
(A link to a tutorial would be optimal!)

    My computer is pretty.
its not that good anyway, its not really a conventional way of doing things, one wong move and your desktop will go haywire, i've also learned the hard way what happens when you mess with the dll files, just use the bloatware, much easier and less things to go wrong.
