Limiting the memory a program can see?

This is not related to Vista, so I guess is the good place to start.

I was wondering if there's a way to make an application, and just that application (not the entire OS), see a fixed amount of RAM (lower than present).

This was due to a game, an MMORPG, that detects systems with lots of RAM (~4GB or more) as low end. This makes it use (enforced) only the lowest settings available.

I remember to have tried the Compatibility Administrator, as there was a Compatibility Fix that allows to set a fixed ammount of RAM and Swap file (for the program to see, I think). I don't remember it right now, but it didn't work anyway.

Since I cannot test such thing, due to not having a system at hand with 4GB RAM or more, I wonder if anyone here know of something that could be tried.

    Thank you for your time!
