Best contract for iPhone in UK?

Hey forum,
Quick question, was going to get iTouch 32GB but ive been told that getting an iPhone is cheaper and better...

So, im looking to get an iPhone 3GS 16GB, as its the one ive been playing around with today, i think my mate is on a £20/month contract with O2.

Im on £10/month with virgin and i dont think they support iPhone yet, so where would the best place be to go?

Your friend is right, you can get an iPhone 3GS for less than £100 if you get a contract, since the 3GS is essentially an iPod touch with phone and messages, you might as well go for the contract option.

I'd probably say look at o2 for some deals, orange have started doing some deals but their network isn't the best, o2 and orange have both started capping the internet to 100mb a month, which is nothing but it doesn't include general surfing, that isn't part of your downloads, I'm currently on £30 a month on 3G and I get 300 minutes and unlimited texts but I got my contract before the cap was placed so I got unlimited Internet ;-) you could also try vodafone as they have new deals for iPhone customers.

Id just shop online as most deals are best online, do not go to carphone warehouse as they don't fully support the network so you wont be able to check your allowance via the myo2 app if you go for o2, just have a good shop around.

It wouldn't affect it really, it's counted as general browsing and doesn't affect your download limit, it has wifi built in so you can connect to any wifi connection and download off that, any THE CLOUD and BT hotspots are unlimited still so you can use that if you're out and about. They will send you a text to say you are reaching the limit before you hit it so you can regulate your downloading anyway

my contract doesnt run out until autumn next year, i dont really need one tbh, i got an ipad for my entertainment and internet needs, and my iphone for my texting and calling needs, im good for the moment

found a nice O2 contract, £15/month with 300 minutes/unlimited texts/data and unlimited wifi and thats for 12 months,
Found that if i buy direct from apple store, its £419 for 8GB, no 16GB :huh:

Guess ill just have a look around on ebay...

As you can see, if you get a 24 month contract you can get the phone for free if you pay £40 a month, or £89 for the phone on a 18 month contract

I looked again at the terms and conditions of the new contracts and I made an elementary mistake, the limit is 500mb a month not 200mb :-/ sorry.

Aha, thats even better!
I was trying to wrk it out last night, on my contract now i pay 30p for 25mb when i need it, i dont really use it up, so ithink i will be okay///

It's more than I expected as well, but I am away from home most of the time and I use 500mb up on downloading games off app store so I do use that amount.

Subnote: I have jail broken my iPhone so I can download large files over 3G, I often find my 3G connection is better than my home connection sometimes!

Been speaking to one of my mums mates today and he is left handed like me, and says that he couldnt use iphone 4 because it would loose signal, so he returned it and bought the sony ericsson xperia x10.

Ive been looking and thought it looks good, He says its waay quicker than iphone, and showed me how fast facebook loads, and its pretty fast, so now im stuck.

Iphone 4 or xperia x10?

iPhone 4 is fast, it's as fast as my iPad, it's got the same processor in it, I've never used an android OS so I can't really comment, but I've seen it being used and it doesn't look as smooth as the iPhone, I suppose it depends on what you want, iPhone 4 signal issues are only due to incorrect bar reporting, again it depends on the area it is being used, if it's a low signal area, the signal reports it being full and hence the call drops, the newest update fixes this issue, plus apple are giving away free bumper cases to help with the signal issues, again it depends on what you want to use it for, on a brighter note, it is completely legal to jailbreak iPhones now and it has been made simpler by going to this site here > JailbreakMe

I would say the phone best suiting my needs is the xperia x10, its got a nice camera, big screen, Its got a 1ghz processor, like the iphone...
Found a few on ebay, £160, £199.99, just unwanted upgrades...
