Ummmm Huhhhh Ummmmm,

Ummmm I just ummm, dropped a duff, yes one of these....

6a00d83451d69069e201287613e883970c-pi

on my wonderful, beloved,, beautiful keyboard that is integral to my lovely, but homely HP laptop...., and be like the good Professor that I am, I um,, quickly turned my dear little poor laptop upside down, ans shook tha' holy crap out of it, to excise the duff demons, rather than, immediately shutt'in down the machine... getting the "air in a can"...and doing everything right.....like waiting a few hours or even running up the temp a tad, with it in my oven....:o

Funny thing, while I was holding my poor Innocent machine by its ankles, slapping it on butt firmly to keep it conscious....It was flashing a booting then finding restore points only existing in the twilight zone...

Of course in this state of "Duffdom" and shear panic I was inadvertently turning my wonderful machine on and off, kinda' like a hard boot, soft boot, half boot, punt, kick, cry and swinging the A.C. power cord like the monkeys at the zoo slinging thier own poo poo at you...but worse.......Alot worse...

Ohhh well,,,,,
As a Professional un-screwer upper,,,,,I guess its true....The saying that doctors never take care of themselves or family.....Looks like it's true, us crazy bubble headed (no pun intended) crazy digital flipper floppers, are a nutty gang of misunderstood creatons.

Anybody out there in good ole' digital land have a nightmarish true or untrue story to share ??

I left my laptop on my bed once...

I left it running by accident, went to the movies, and returned to find a smoking, half-melted, keyboard.

It was not fixable... lol.

:roflmao:
Yeah, my mum did something similar, she was complaining that it was really hot and had slowed down, then it turned off and wouldn't boot.
So, I took it apart to find that the heatsink had actually partly melted and was causing a short-circuit.
We bought her a new one. Lol.. ;)

Ouch lol. That sure sucks.

My laptop get's pretty hot, especially when I put it on fabricated object (bed, chair...)
It slows down so I need to put it to sleep until it cools down. I hope my mobo is not melting...

If you guys want a story of durability, I could say my PSP is made of steel. It has been through so much abuse. Lets see... I dropped it on hard floors and cement, sat on it, stepped on it, maybe even spilled something on it. My friend has his screen cracked so you can only see the upper left corner of it. Surprised that that has not happened to me yet.

Yes it is.....On the other hand it can get a tad warm...warm enough to shut down all outbound flights out of Phx. International airport! Of course the pilot must know if all variables are met for proper lift.....I.E., thrust, length of runway, wind speed, gross weight, air pressure, and ambient air temperature. well my friend it was like 400 degrees out there, or felt like it....:o. I forgot what the temp. acually was, greater than 120 F. thats for sure....

1276004809013.JPEG

Of course lift is just the relative air speed, or ratio, over the wing (slower) and under the wing (faster). Problem was, the manufactures "charts" did not go that high in temparture. The higher temp of course causes the air to be less dense causing less lift...

Yes I remember that same day I filled my bathtub full of tabasco sauce and jumped in to cool off....

I also remember seeing a cat explode outside and seeing hot wings fall out of the sky...
