It's good to learn something new every day. It looks like a wedding picture (or at least some formal occasion). It's nice to see what others really look like - but I would never do that myself (I guess I'm not quite ready for that and I'm not sure anyone else is either - LOL). Are you aware you can have a different picture in your profile than the one used as your avatar (as I notice yours are the same)? Check out mine.

Obviously, my avatar is Captain America Captain America (Steve Rogers) - Marvel Universe Wiki: The definitive online source for Marvel super hero bios.) - my all-time favorite superhero (and no, even at 54 I haven't outgrown that though I no longer purchase comics) and I use it in just about every forum in which I've ever participated. Lorien http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorien_(Babylon_5) (shown in my profile picture) is the billions of years old, first conscious entity in the universe immortal (telepathic, telekinetic, clairvoyant, able to transform into energy - or maybe really is an energy being, able to nearly raise the dead,...) from the TV show Babylon-5. I use that username (or some variant) or one based on Kosh (from the same series) in just about every forum as well. I have several/many other shots of both (including an animated one), but I've come to prefer these two. Clearly, I haven't outgrown my love for superheroes (or my unrealistic hope that someday I'll become one - though my martial arts mastery and firearms marksmanship may make it true in a small way even if I've not even once gone around looking for people to help that way though I at one time did consider it). Instead, I try to help people here - I wonder if that qualifies?

Perhaps others will share the origins or reasons for their avatars and profile pictures (and maybe even usernames) here (and/or the reason that picture was chosen or descriptions - as while I can understand many not recognizing Lorien, I was recently stunned to discover someone who actually didn't recognize Cap!) for others who may not be aware (it was someone young who isn't into comics in a foreign country who didn't recognize Cap - but until then it hadn't even occurred to me). If it's your picture, why that one and where were you when it was taken and why was that one chosen? I think the names we choose and the pictures we display say much about us and I think we'd all like to hear more.

For example, I'd absolutely love to know the reasoning behind z3r010 for John or why Shawn chooses to focus on that particular variety of extra-terrestrial being, or who Joan's avatar represents (I don't recognize the entity) or what Niemiro means, or where Richard was when what I assume is his photograph was taken, or who Paul's avatar is, or who Jacee's avatar is (obviously Japanese anime - but I don't recognize the character), or who Roy's avatar is, and on and on. Perhaps some will be just as stunned as I was about Cap that I (and maybe others) don't recognize the avatar or the name.

Hello!

Well mine was downloaded off a free avatar website because I liked it :) It goes quite nicely with my mathematical nature. Because it comes off a free avatar website, it isn't absolutely unique, but so far I have only found one other person with it, and I can't remember where - s/he wasn't particularly big.

Congratulations on getting entry!

Richard

Hello Lorien thank you for your letter and yes this was at a wedding of one of my best friends and I guess am a little conceited because I think this is the best picture of me ever.

Now to something important I also have a Black belt in Tang so do, brown belt in Wing Tsun and 2 years of the Lama system and in Arizona I studied under Augustine Fong under him it was spelled Wing Chun and in my early days in Phoenix I was clocked at 212 miles an hour spinning my sticks and my greatest moment was when I got to meet Carlos Ray Norris and his sceen name is Chuck Norris. I fought in the Seattle openings in 1980 and took first place. In 1991 My wife and I and a little daughter legally changed our names and moved so we would be left alone because I did not want the so called fame anymore, I never made a lot of money becasue of my own morals. I gave myself and my wife a promise that I would not cross certain boundeary's and I kept that promise but sometimes I wish I would have stayed in it then I could have given my family more because in Aug 1989 I was almost killed in a head on cash that screwed me up for the rest of my life. I guess my wife needed me more and she worried so much when I fought so I gave in to her and we have 2 beautiful daughter's. So anyway I like hearing from you. Thank You

Well my username is the favourite half of a double barreled surname. 16 people on Facebook with it (nothing at all!), and I just happen to be/know every single person on the first three pages of Google when searched for. The name was down to one man, after a certain period of recent history (a war in the country I am a national of), hence why it is almost unique. It always was very small anyway. So basically, my name, not that many knew. :) A great name!

My pic was stolen from another forum and my name is what I'm all about.
I use this name on about 7 forums sometimes with a number to tell me what year I started at that forum.
I like to test free software and see if it is as good as the makers say it is.
I also like free time to do nothing, as only a man can.
