Hello
My first post on this in case some have overlooked it is I am having 2 problems, The first is the hour glass comes on by it's self even when it is at idle next to the cursor and then will go off and come back on for no reason to me, the second is no matter what program I click to go into or leave a program the bottom of my screen flash's, and does it while I am in the program, it also does it while I am on internet. Also when I am on the forum, this has been gong on for about 3 weeks and I really did not think it was a problem but it is getting worse.
I upgraded my ram from the 4 GB it came with, I went to HP's site and downloaded all of the spec's for my computer and with that it comes with what you can up-grade to so I took this info and went to the computer store and spoke with the sales rep, he looked it up and showed me the 3 they had in stock so I chose to buy these (Corsair XMS2) (2X2GB) DDR2 PC6400SC DU CO Speed 800 MHz Gaming module twin2x4096-6400C5 C. The computer updated it to show the new ram.
I have done the following thus far.
1. Ran a full AV--no virus's
2. Ran a full scan using malwarebytes--it found nothing all is good
3. I did a safe boot and it did the same
4. I went into the Device manager and found no yellow warning at all and I relooked today and the findings are the same.
5. I followed your advice on downloading Memtest86+ and what to do.
6. I went into the setup to change the way it booted at start-up so I could use the usb memory stick instead of the CD and it only gave me 2 options, the first was the CD and the second was HDD there were 4 but 2 of them it says are not installed on my system so I changed one at a time with no success on either one but after I did the one marked HHD my system crashed. After stumbling around trying to fix my computer I wound up doing a restore only setting it back one day prior to trying these things on my computer. So at this point the memtest I was unable to complete, my setup box was not like the one in the tutorial and since it did not look like what Vista Home Premium looks like it was very confussing to say the least.
7. I checked the graphic's driver to make sure it was up-to-date as far as the driver and it is up-to-date.
8. I have as of lastnight ran a FULL Hardware dianostic of my entire system one by one instead of doing it all together using the pre-installed software from HP which is PC-Doctor, if there is a better software for checking hardware please inform me as I am willing to change it.
9. Last night I ran a full sfc /scannow and this time it told me it had to make some changes to the system files but was unable to change them all, I will find the report log and send it next post.
I am after this post going into my event viewer and go one by one to see if there is anything I missed, about a year ago I had to do a full Factory system recover, setting everything back to the factory spec's, after doing so I went right to the event viewer and there were hundreds and hundreds of red errors and about the same in yellow.
This is my update so far.
Tom
