Hi beiniam and welcome to Vista Forums

A bit more information please. What is the make and model of your computer? Does this problem occur for a specific program (which would indicate that you need an update for that program), or does it happen for any program? Exactly what does it say on the BSOD? Post back quoting the exact information displayed (use a digital camera to capture the image if necessary) as this information will help us to pin-point your problem (or, at least, narrow it down).

According to Bug Check 0xD1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL you have a driver issue - seemingly. On the surface it seems like it is a driver issue, but in fact it may end up being a power issue - Please edit your system specs section in your control panel here on the boards with all the info about your setup motherboard, (with model number) CPU, video card, PSU, etc - I ma guessing your machine needs a good spring cleaning or else that your PSU is simply going south.

It could, though, also be that you need drivers or an updated BIOS for your motherboard as well....

Hi beiniam,

To 'tip your scales', simply click on them (the middle symbol, as shown below). You can find these at the top right hand corner of the posts. You can, if you wish, also include a comment. The amount of points that you can give is based on your Rep Power:, which in your case is currently 1. This post explains more about this: http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/118651-forum-rules.html#post786184

My Computer

Hi beiniam, in answering your question concerning the problem with 4 gb of ram, I believe it is something to do with the fact that in 32 bit OS large area of the address space between the 3 to 4 gb are reserved for some system devices such that if writing/reading to these addresses you might have actually write/read to a device like your graphic card or something. So, I would suggest to leave the 4th gb of ram out. However, the easiest way to fix it is using 64 bit Vista.

On the drivers issue, only a few device driver you may need to check for update often such as the on for graphic and sound cards. You may go to the manufacturer web site to check for an update. The ones for such as optical drive and hard drives are ususally up to date.

As for the other problems described which are very difficult to pinpoint, I suggest you run a series of routine steps may help you take care of it. First you may try a system repair or restore to the dates before problem occurred. Then run a complete virus check on the system. Next for hardware check by running memtest and chkdsk to see if your rams and HDDs are acting up. In addition, open the case make sure the inside is dust free and all components and connectors are set and secure.

Other then that, I wish you luck and have a happy holiday. Post back.

Hi beiniam,

you can see a little bit of info on the Windows Experiance Index page. Just go to control panel- performance information and tools- view and print details.
wei.JPG

You could also go to control panel-performance info-advanced tools-View Advanced System Details to find more. And there are some little programs that tell you a lot about your specs such as SIW, HWINFO32, PC Wizard 2008, CPU-Z. They're all in here.
