    Re: More BSOD's

    Overclock2much,

Looking at your system spec's I'm going to say you might be pushing your overclocks and stressing your memory controllers since you have all four of your dimm slots filled with memory; not to mention that you have PC6400 sticks, which are probably running at 1000MHz. (if you're using the default memory divider of 800MHz)

Try backing off on your OC and see what happens or get some better RAM - PC8500?

Also, have you run memtest the see if the memory is stable? Might be a good idea.

OK, in that case, are you overclocking that that system? Also have you run memtest on that system. You could have a bad memory stick. Also did you do a recent OS reinstall? If not, have you considered it? I'm not one for OS reinstalls but...

No O/C on the Wolfy, LOL, it's the only comp out of 9 in the house that isn't O/C'd.
I just pulled DIMM 2 & 4 out. Its running on 4Gb now. I think it was a bad RAM stick. If not I'm going to start eyeing the M/B.
I let it be known in a little while if it is a RAM prob or not.

    Thx sygnus

    Back to square one.
It worked OK for a while but now it's BSOD'ing on a regular basis. I installed a new Samsung 500Gb H/D and install Ultimate on it, it can't even finish a clean install w/o crashing.
Diagnostics says that CPU is good & mem is good,. So is a baseball bat. Crash reports indicate hrwr prob. M/B maybe ??????

Confused! I thought you said this system only had 4gig of memory???

Definitely sounds like hardware. Could be MB, could be Memory, or CPU. When did you start getting BSOD's on this system? After RAM upgrade?

Here's another thought - Is your RAM voltage and timings correct per the modules specs? Some MB don't "automatically" set the correct memory voltage if it's more then 1.8 volts. Also are the timing correct?

    Just a thought

    Re: More BSOD's

It's an 8 Gb RAM. In the specs I failed to denote x 2 on the RAM amount.
    G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) x 2

I did go back & retest the RAM. When I initially did this I must have mixed up the bad stick.
This time I tested all RAM together and found over 680 errors, after that I methodically
tested the individual sticks and found the bad one.
I then removed the matched pair and restarted the computer and all is good. The bad pair is being RMA'd back to Newegg.

I guess you'll have this issue when your trying to run a company & a house full of kids. The thought process goes right out the window.

Thx for all of your input Sygnus21, next time I'll do this troubleshooting in a much more quite environment.
