Vista Freezing but Mouse Works.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium, Sony Vaio Model PCG-384L, 1.8 GHz, 2.00 Gb of Ram and it is a 32 bit operating system.
I have been having troubles with my Vaio since a couple months after i got it. The main problem i am having with it now is sometimes when i will be playing a game it will either kill the game... it will crash, or i will get a "blue screen of death." No death has happened yet... but anyways...
Now, randomely, if i stop using my laptop for an extended period of time it will freeze at whatever screen it was at before it froze. If a screensaver came on and you move the mouse it will actually cancel the screensaver like its supposed to... and yes MY MOUSE WORKS!? I don't understand what is going on, it is not overheating... its quite cool just after it happened when i caught it the one time.
Anyone have anything similar or any clue what to do?
(i have downloaded all of the possible updates... :p)

If the laptop is still under warranty, why not take advantage of it and have it fix by Sony? It may be a defect and you can get a revised version of it.

NOt the answer you were looking for but perhaps a solution before warranty expires?

The game crashes could be alot of things , GPU drivers usually the main culprit , secondly soundcard/chip drivers but if your installing new ones get them from the gpu vendors site ATI/NVidia and not the laptop site , just incase its some incompatibility

as for the freezing , if your mouse is still ok then your cpu may be getting maxed out due to some erroneous process.

hold down ctrl/alt then press del once and select the start task manager option , click the processes tab and expand the window , then wait for your pc to crash

when it does look at the cpu usage section and see if anything is at 100% (system idle process doesnt count) if anything is post the FULL process name up here

as for your blue screens if you goto your windows folder (in your C drive , or main hard drive) then find the minidump folder , open it and in there there will be a dump file , if you make that available for download i can have a look at it for you and see what was going on when your pc crashed (you must make sure that when your pc bluescreens you wait for the memory dump to complete before restarting , its writing the ifo to the dump file)
