zip up the contents of your minidump folder (c\windows\minidump) and attach it to a post

and fill in your system specs :)

that info you have there does point to an Intel network driver , try updating / reinstalling

1) Update all of your drivers (particularly your Intel Storage drivers). There's a lot of old one's there.
2) Visit Windows Update and install Service Pack 2

Most errors of this type involve issues with the NTFS file system - and most are covered by Windows Update patches.

1 gB of RAM isn't really enough to run Vista Home Premium - a minimum of 2 gB is recommended by a lot of people. RAM is cheap these days, and an extra gB will help your performance a lot.

Run Startup Repair ("Repair this computer") from the Safe Mode menu (start tapping F8 repeatedly just before the Windows splash screen shows up).
Run a hard drive diagnostic. If one isn't included with your HP, try this link: Bootable Hard Drive Diagnostics - Vox

Here's the dump file, I wasn't able to get anything additional out of it:

So far looking at the mini dump file.... Wininit.exe and win32k.sys are the ones causing it...
You didn't disable wininit.exe file from running did you?

edit
Peculiar thing is E100b325.sys file. Why it keeps bringing that one.... That's a network driver for Intel network card.

Hey Guys.

Thanks for the help... when i get into the office I'll check it out... Im at home now.

  1. I'll update the drivers, so basically just download "service pack 2" and that should resolved the "outdated drivers"?
  2. I'll update the ram
  3. And I'll run the repair.
  4. I haven't disabled the Wininit.exe - i don't know how to - moreover how do i fix those 2 files that are damaging the computer?

My Computer

Alright... so I've updated to that latest service pack 2. but when i go into the properties of My Computer it still says Service Pack 1, maybe I need to re-start again?

How do I upgrade all the drivers all together?

My Computer

the first screenshot shows service pack 2 for microsoft office , not windows , thats why your still on SP1 in yuor operating system properties?

If service pack 2 isnt showing up in your critical updates you may need to either download it manually or install Internet Explorer 8 first , this is counted as a critical update and on some rigs/operating systems auto update wont suggest SP2 for Vista till IE8 is installed

Also only install critical updates for your operating system , dont install optional updates for your hardware , always visit the manufacturers website and install their drivers , not microsofts , there is nothing wrong with MS driver updates but they often lack certain addins / refinements that come from the manufacturer of your hardware.

for example your last update for your graphics chipset , your better off getting that from your motherboard manufacturers website

Hey Archie,

Usually SP2 will come to you through windows update, otherwise you can use this link and download it

Download details: Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - Five Language Standalone (KB948465)

Hey Fellas...

It's been a while since I last posted on here :( it's cause I was on vacation! Anyways, now that I am back I am still having the same issue... I've upped to SP2 attached is of proof.

Hey mate.

Sounds good - let's fix it! :0 So how do I get you my system specs? Do I go into the device manager? If so, I am there and the network adapters is: Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection - it's listed as working properly. I Then clicked on the "driver" tab and clicked on "Update Driver" and it said I had the latest driver... so should I uninstall?

Here's the driver details.

e8k4tg.jpg

My Computer

Randomly updating your driver files may fix the issue - but there's no guarantee if the offending driver isn't replaced in an update.

"Update driver" merely checks the Windows Update driver store - and I recommend updating drivers from the hardware manufacturer's website (not from Windows Update).

The link to the error files takes me to the home page of FileDropper - could you please post another link so we can download the .dmp file and run an analysis on it?

Hi - thanks for the reply!

As for the hardware manufacture, it's Intel, I did a google search and found this: Network Connectivity - Creating a network adapter driver install disk <--- is this the upgrade? If not, would you mind pin pointing me to the update?

I'll re-upload the files for you possibly tomorrow when I am on that computer.

Thanks again!

My Computer

To find the correct driver we'll need the make and model of the motherboard (if the card is built into it) or the make and model of the card (if it's not built in). Also what version of Windows Vista are you using (32 or 64 bit)?

If you can't find the info, open Device Manager, expand the Network Adapters category, and let us know what it says there.
