BSOD nonstop no mater what i try to do

My computer knowledge is very good i am taking a class for A++ certification at the moment. From experience I'm in between Experienced and Pro of knowing hardware.

Last night i overclocked my GPU to see how it would run on AION. But today i started my computer up it ran fine. Later when i got home i decided to turn my heat-sink towards the more powerful exhaust fan, along with taking the faceplate off the GPU heat-sink so my PCI FOX1 system blower would let it breath more easy.

When i turned it on i got toe BSOD on start up right when it started loading. So im like hey my hard-drive with errors finally blew up. I pull out my format disk and format it. Then when it starts loading XP to the system set up it gives me the BSOD General causes of "STOP 0x0000007F" errors and I'm like oh good lord i'm screwed.

I took off my video-card put the face plate back on changed the heat-sink the way it was before but still didn't fix it. (i tried this also before reformatting) Now seeing if it is the video card i take that out and hook up my monitor to the standard video on my motherboard. Still does not work. I try resetting the motherboard took out the battery ( BAD IDEA I REGRET IT I CANT SEE THE LOG NOW) I then did some diagnostic tests on my memory NOTHING WRONG!

Anyways on trying to install windows it says
STOP 0x0000007F (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Hello naturalphenomen,
First things first, when in the Bios, reset it to it's default state, normally F5,
save and exit, reset the GPU back to default.
Unplug all USB devices, except keyboard and mouse.
If it still wont boot after this, go inside the case and check all wiring, all connectors, and also check the CPU/GPU heat-sink, (just in case).
Just out of interest, how much thermal paste did you use ?.
Try this and post your results, good luck.

enough to make sure there is no metal on metal contact to the heatsink and CPU i didnt over use it though its a thin sheet

i am noticing on the boot screen where it is detecting hardware it is taking longer, some times i can get through the blue screen though and i recognized it booted quicker

I think what i would do is to remove all but one stick of ram and try it, if it blue screens then swap the ram, but only use one stick at a time, repeat this with all the sticks of ram, this will ensure that the ram is not the problem.

i already did a diagnostic test its not the ram

Those are not always reliable, the only way to really test it is to remove it and try.

yeah for a low price or i hope the board is fried only because its a shi**y board

Do u think it could be the motherboard? or did i royally screw up my CPU for putting a razor thin sheet of thermal grease on my CPU heat sink. Before then though i noticed both pieces of metal were touching with out grease could that have done it?

The thermal paste needs to be thin, too thick and it acts like a barrier, it's a job to know really, but it's not worth beating yourself up over.
Everything can be fixed.

yeah with cash... that i done have i hope its just the motherboard and my CPU was running at 50C when i had it running last

How much did you actually overclock it by? There's a chance it could have been a voltage problem.

sorry about the late reply i clocked everything up by 50-100 more i was being an idiot and thought that the Nvidia tools test said it was fine but it really isnt. i did some research and apparently i gota do fur tests and raise it by 5 and make sure its stable. Nvidia tools doesn't test it thoroughly enough

Core Clock Speed 660 to 725
Memory Clock Speed 1900 to 1950
Shader Clock 1650-750

But you did put it all back to default, didn't you ?.

yeah after i saw there was a problem, i did of course went back to factory settings but that was after i saw my computer was booting up with a blue screen

Okay i got some news, so far they told me a sector was bad on my storage hard drive, that's it for so far. that shouldn't have gave me a problem like that should it?
