Hello chipwilly,
The file that is causing your problem is NETIO.SYS.
If you Google it, there are loads of people having trouble.
There is a HotFix for it, follow the link, i don't know how relevant it is, but may be worth a go.

Error message when you start a multiprocessor computer that runs Windows Vista: "STOP: 0x0000007E"

In the mean time i will look for a better fix, if there is one.
Just out on interest, have you installed a third party network adapter ?.
Good luck and post your results.

hi thanks for the reply.
i was just about to put in my factory restore disc. which i desperatly do not want to do.
i have not installed any 3rd party drivers since well b4 any problems started
most times the crashes do not leave dump files? is that normal?
going to check into the hotfix next.

You can easily check if it is a memory issue by removing a stick of RAM and seeing if the problem goes away. Assuming that you have 2 sticks and 2 sockets, you need to check all permutations, i.e. each stick in each socket separately and then both together.

first set of numbers is 0x0000008
looked that up and said it was double fault.

2. at blue screen it said problem was dxgkrnl.sys
adress 8cc162B6 at 8cc0E000, date stamp 4abc1e72

3rd one was caused by memory_management
Stop: 0x0000001A
