Vista Blue Screened

About 2 months ago I bought a Hp G70-460US Laptop that I've been running Vista Home Premium on and it was working perfectly until earlier today when I started to get random blue screens of death. At first I thought it was just a random crash from running too many programs, but it started to blue screen ever more frequently. Earlier I restored it back to 2 weeks prior but I was unable to run programs efficiently and it still blue screened, so I backed-up all that was important onto an Ipod and did a complete system restore to the factory settings, which took about an hour, and at which point it blue screened at startup before even getting to the administrator log-in screen. I've now attempted to boot it into safe mode, however it no longer even recognized that windows is even installed and asks for it to be, and when booted regularly, it just shows a black screen. I'm fairly certain it may be a driver issue, however seeing as I can no longer boot the computer to get the blue screen, it's difficult to check what the problem actually is now. I've never had this problem before and I'm not much of a computer wiz, so I'm not sure what I should be doing to fix it. Does anyone have prior knowledge or possibly some insight on how to fix this problem? It would be greatly appreciated. I haven't given much information other than the problem itself, so if some is needed, just let me know. Also I'm new to this forum, so if this thread is in the wrong place, I apologize. Edit: I attempted another factory settings system restore and it blue screened during installation. I caught a glimpse of it saying MEMORY_MANAGEMENT or something similar but I'm unsure of what relation that has to anything...

Hello Werty789,
Welcome to Vista Forums!

I think that there was a little glitch that turned big (sounds weird i know).
But since you backed up all of your files thats super. I would suggest you do a clean installation of your version of vista. This way, you can have a fresh start and hopefully your BSOD will be gone. Also, make sure you allow windows to update itself after installation so it downloads and installs all the proper updates.

Let us know how it goes,
Ben

I attempted to reinstall everything back to it's original factory settings, but the installation seems to fail for an unknown reason. Any idea why? If not, do you think I just should send it into HP and have them fix it. Would a problem like this be under the warranty?

This Hp model apparently doesn't come with a Recovery DVD/CD, but instead has a 'Make Your Own' program of some sorts. I have the disks to recover, but they were not working properly, so I ran the recovery using F11 on start up. When using the disks it works up until it tells you to remove external hardware, at which point, when you click 'Next', it tells you it cannot run with System Recovery and asks for you to stop it and then it takes you to a blue screen (Not blue screen of death), but just a plain light blue plain screen, as if it was unable to perform the operation. Also I recently ordered Windows 7. Is this a problem with Vista clashing with one of my drivers possibly, and will installing Windows 7 possibly fix the problem?

First:
Upload Dump Files
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
{Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service - then post the link to it.
Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDump
Next:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Malware (read the details at the link)

I'm unable to actually get on to do so. As I said before, while trying to re-install everything to the factor-settings, the installation failed and I am unable to even boot up the computer.

Hopefully Windows 7 will fix this issue. In the mean time, I would suggest you use another computer, and download a copy of windows vista (full installation DVD)(google search will pull up some links) and burn it to a DVD. It should be about 4.7GB for an installation DVD. Anything smaller is fake/recovery disc.

Let us know,
Ben

Edit: Decided to just contact Hp. Ran a BIOS test and they're sending me a Vista Installation disk, because apparently the ones made by me were corrupted by whatever was corrupted in the hard drive. Hopefully it will work, unfortunately there will be no backups...

The H/W Diagnostic tests can be run even if Windows isn't installed.
Please read the instructions on how to do this.
