Hi. Firstly I want to say my computer knowledge isn't great, so sorry in advance if I do anything wrong or seem a bit slow at times - I'm doing my best.

I bought a Chillblast Sidewinder about 15 months ago, and it's been working almost flawlessly since then until the last couple of days. It will start up fine but after a period of time (ranging from 5 minutes to hours) it will crash out to the BSoD with a memory dump. I haven't been able to deliberately cause this to happen, it seems to do it randomly. The error message is (sorry, I don't know which bits are relevant):

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

0x0000003B

then (I think in brackets) there are several addresses:
0x00000000C0000005
0xFFFFF960000E5429
0xFFFFFA6005237330
0x00000000000000000

win32k.sys - Address FFFFF960000E5429 base at FFFFF96000010000
DateStamp 4a857827

(searching through past posts, this might be something to do with the RAM?)

On one occasion, while booting, some message came up about trouble with overclocking, but I can't remember what it said and it hasn't happened again.

I bought the system direct from Chillblast and haven't (nor would I know how to) change anything about it. The specs are:

Intel Core 2 Quad Core Q6600 overclocked up to 3.2GHz
Asus P5Q P45 Motherboard
4GB PC2-6400 Memory
Chillblast Radeon HD 4870 512MB
1000GB 7200RPM Hard Disk
Standard 20x DL DVD±RW SATA Optical Drive
Thermaltake High Performance 500W PSU
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit OEM

I am very (very very) grateful to any help anyone can give me. If I need to give any more information, just let me know. Thanks

Rob

I'm not the best with debugging BSOD's, but I can tell you one simple step to take in trying to resolve the issue.

A common cause of BSOD's is out-dated drivers.

Try updating your drivers through the Device Manager.

Hi Rob,
STOP Error 0x0000003B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

STOP error 0x3B means that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code. STOP code 0x0000003B may also display "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" on the same STOP message

Unfortunately I have to finish up some home work and can't help you research for a fix to your problem, but I am sure the seniors at this forum can give you some guidance. Hi Americano, this is not to say anything negative about you friend. Best of luck.
Regards,
Gil777t

Thanks for the responses. I went through the drivers and the mouse, screen and wireless network adapter were the only ones which needed updating - I assume not the cause of the problem.
