    Vista won't start up.

Okay, everytime I update Microsoft Security Essentials and Install windows updates and I restart my laptop, vista refuses to start. It's stuck on the page where the green bar goes to the right, so because of this, I have to turn it off by pressing the off button and it goes to startup repair. After running this and getting vista to start, I notice that the updates to security essentials and the windows updates are uninstalled and need to be installed again, but when I do this, it goes back to not starting and back to startup repair.

I don't know what to do. Please help me, I'm desperate....

Read this and then give it a try
Windows Update - Reset - Windows 7 Forums

Should be equally valid for Vista.

Yes, I understand what you are saying
What I am asking, when you boot try to tap F8 continually. Do you get to safe mode?

If you can get into safe mode, you can do a system restore. You can alos make tests to discover the cause of the problem
