Multiple Issues. Very frustrated.

Hi. I am new here. I am hoping to learn how to fix my problems with my laptop on my own. I like to learn new things, so I would like to see if I can get some help with this.

First, I get an error message when I try to logon to my profile. It says something about "User Profile Service Failed the Logon" or something to that effect. I have tried a couple of tips that I read on here, but the problem is, sometimes my "administrator password" works, and sometimes, it doesn't. I don't know why that is. For instance, I tried to create a new user account, but when I click on "manage another account", nothing happens. At all.

My laptop seems to be controlled by someone else. It will randomly shut down my virus software, and if I try to turn it back on myself, my password will not work. I also hear strange clicking noises as if someone is typing on my keyboard, even when I'm not using it.

I am currently using my husband's profile, but when I need to do anything that involves downloading (PDF files, etc), it will tell me I can't because Parental Controls has it blocked. When I try and override parental controls with my "administrator password", nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. I type in the password, hit enter, and.....nothing happens.

I am SUPER frustrated with this computer. I'm not highly computer literate, but I consider myself a fast learner. ANY help would be appreciated. Before I throw it out the window. :sa:

I did not receive a phone call from anyone at MS. I put IN a phone call a while back to get help with the "user account" issue. I am vaguely familiar with keylogging. I mean, I know what it IS, but not how it happens.

I can't download the software. The parental controls won't let me. I can't override them. When I put my password in to override them, nothing happens.

And what do you mean by "or worse"? :)

When you say "very dangerous", is that in a "your computer is going to completely crash and burn" dangerous, or "you are being spied on" dangerous??

And no, I do not have another computer. This one is barely a year old.

Just out of curiousity, why would anyone WANT to control my keyboard?

I must warn you now, I am very inquisitive and I LIKE to ask questions. :)

Also, I don't think I have a Vista DVD. Not that I can remember. I will double check.

I mean you are being Spied on and your computer Hardware could be Destroyed

All you need to run a scan is:

  1. Another Computer with Internet access
  2. An ISO Burner
  3. The Download link
  4. A Blank CD

Here are the Links:

Rescue CD : AVG - AVG Rescue CD

Do you have any Family Members with a Computer that you are able to use?

Hope This Helps,
Josh

I noticed that on my Norton Antivirus, something called SONAR is turned off, and I can't turn it back on. The other day, my virus protection was turned off. I didn't do that. I also couldn't turn it back on. Now, it's on, but the "SONAR" is turned off.

What is SONAR?

The download is an ISO which is an Image of an Item and you use ISO's to Burn to Disks .

An ISO Burner is a Program that Burns that ISO to the Disk allowing you to Boot into the Disk

Hope This Helps,
Josh

Sonar is the Live Scan it is were Norton Is actively scanning your Computer for Viruses and Scanning Downloads. I would Recommend keeping it on

Also after you have Burned the Disk Boot into the Disk and run a Virus Scan

Hope This Helps,
