Vista stuck at Microsoft Corp Bar

Hi,

Turned on computer one day and it would not get passed the stadge when Microsoft Corporation appears and the bar underneath just keeps on going for ever.

I have tried the disc I made when I bought the computer as it did not come with any. These have reloaded the system once before and worked fine.
Also I made a recovery disk from the instructions on another site, but in both cases it does the loading windows files stadge and then gets stuck at the Microsoft corporation stadge.

Hope this makes sense and would appreciate any advice.

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:
