Help my Toshiba

New Member
Hello, and please help me! I am so mad because I just fixed my
"Toshiba Satelitte - P305D - S8828" laptop and after one day of updating updates for it, the computer just completely crashed. I said windows could not get out of hibernation and restarted the computer. It said Startup Repair (recommended) and Start Windows normally. I tried both and both got BSOD at the green loading thingy. I did not get to the log in screen. I also tried all the safe mode startups, they all got BSOD or they just restarted for no reason. I also tried to reinstall windows vista with a disk. On startup i hit F12 to access the disk drive and the disk also got BSOD! I am out of options here, Please Please help me fix the problem!

Considering when the BSOD is occurring and your post, there seems to be no way to access the system by normal boot, safe mode, CD/DVD, or USB-drive. As it is a laptop, it is much more complicated to remove the hard drive and slave it to another PC (by which I mean a desktop machine and not another laptop) and possibly gain access that way. The easiest and cheapest way to do it is with an adapter (assuming your laptop hard drive and the PC meet the requirements specified for using the adapter which can be obtained here (or in many computer stores): 2.5" to 3.5" IDE Hard Drive Adapter - Convert Your Laptop Hard Drive into a Desktop Hard Drive! ADP2535S). You may also need to install drivers for the laptop HDD on the PC to get it to function properly.

If the PC recognizes and allows access to the drive, then we may be able to run some tests on it to see if that is the problem and possibly even download some error logs which may tell us more about the problem (which, if you can access the hard drive, is most likely being caused by something else but it still could be the hard drive - though I doubt it given when the BSOD is appearing). If you go this route and get this far, post back and we'll provide instructions on what to try to test the drive and see if we can access and copy any of the report logs so you can send them to us for analysis.

If this sounds like too much (and it would be daunting for most users - although I could do it (and have done it) myself, even I find it a bit complicated), then I recommend you take the laptop to a reputable computer repair shop (NOT Geek Squad or any of those big store centers but true professionals) or return it to the manufacturer for service as this almost certainly a hardware problem rather than a software problem (though that is not certain or confirmed yet). You will most likely lose everything on your hard drive as they service the machine so unless you first slave your hard drive and try to backup your data, it will most likely be lost unless you have a good, recent backup.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!
