Bsod and trying to repair

Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me with my Vista x64 problem. I try to boot up my computer(G60 HP) I get a black screen saying windows is loading at the bottom then the bar with the green stripe starts moving. A blue screen appears with a black square that flashes for a second. It then tries to repair the computer automatically. Its says "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically. I have tried F8.....boot in safe mode, restore point a couple of times:mad:, I ran HDD test, memory test...can't find the problem. The advance options in the repair screen also states they can't find a problem. Maybe, its a virus or several updates(Microsoft and the new AVG antivirus version).

Thanks in advance for all your assistance,

Steph

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Malware (read the details at the link)

Hi,

Thank you for responding to my post. I was :sa: with Visa so I decided to upgrade to Windows 7. I first tried to upgrade but the laptop did not like that option so I just pressed install. After the install, I discovered that I have a windows old file that saved my files from Vista :D....well now i'm onto Win 7.
