Method 1:
Check if you are able to boot your computer to ‘Safe Mode’. Here are the steps to boot the computer to ‘Safe Mode’:
Follow the below steps to boot the computer to ‘Safe Mode’:
a. Restart your computer if it is powered on.
b. Tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.
c. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.
d. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
e. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.
f. Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges.

Method 2:
Use the System recovery options if you have a Windows Vista disc.
a. Insert the Windows Vista DVD in the DVD drive, and then restart your computer from the DVD.
Note: when you receive the prompt Press any Key to boot from the CD or DVD, press any key on the keyboard to restart your computer by using the Windows Vista DVD.
b. Select your language setting, and then click Next.
c. Select Repair your computer.
d. Select the Windows Vista installation to be repaired, and then click Next.
e. Under System Recovery Options, select Startup Repair, and then press ENTER.
Note: If the repair process detects a problem when it starts Windows Vista, it will run Startup Repair to automatically fix the problems. If this occurs, click Cancel, and then click View Advanced Options for system recovery and support.
f. Click Finish when the Startup Repair has finished.
g. Under System Recovery Options, click Restart.

I suggest that you use the System Restore option to restore your computer to the point when it was working fine.
Method 3:
a. Boot through the Vista Recovery Disk
b. Repair your computer and select ‘Command prompt’:
c. It will take you to the location
x:\Sources (assuming windows drive is C: in WinRE)
d. Type c: and press enten, it will display as c:\
e. Type the following commands:
Type cd windows
Type cd system32
Type rename msimg32.dll msimg32.bak
(assuming dvd drive is D: in WinRE)
Type d (Or replace it with the appropriate drive letter).
Type cd windows
Type cd system32
Type copy AUDIOSES.DLL c:\windows\system32
Type exit

I was afraid of that, the only thing left is a clean install. Without a DVD, it will have to be a restore to factory specs. Do you know how to do that? If not, do you have your computer manual? If not with your computer make and model google restore factory specs.

The only DVD that you can get from online will boot to repair. You can borrow a DVD. Dont worry if worse comes to worse we can get your documents.
