I have a vista laptop and I recently got 2 files infected (says malwarebytes) this led to aprox. 11 files, all of which were quarentintined and deleted succesfully. That didn't solve the issue. I ran another scan, then a scan with trend micro. No infected files detected, still virus. Left laptop off( or standby) for a few days. Now there are no errors... still not sure if connecting to internet and using my email is a good idea, but I would like to reunite with my laptop and use it like I used to (torrents and whatnot). Some extra info: i downloaded registry booster, and I had infected registry files a week or 2 afterwards, But i had used it before with no issue. So did the virus just die, or is it hiding and waiting for me to hop on my email and steal my s**t?

I'm sorry, but that is completely incorrect. Malware is everything bad: virsues, spyware, bootkits etc.

until you can get rid of the virus, i recommend you disconnect from teh internet. use another computer to download antivirus software and run scans. and no, viruses do no just go away. as long as your infected computer is running, the virus is running alongside

Get rid of registry booster, DO NOT use programs that manipulate the registry, one wrong move and windows will not start again.

The Virus could be gone.

After malwarebytes successfully removed the infected files you said "That didn't solve the issue", what issue is that?
