Let me start off by explaining how the problem occurred. My friends old computer crapped out (i believe it was the power supply), so she got a new one. She wanted me to get the files off of her old HDD, I told her I didn't know much about hardware yada yada. Anyways, i put the old HDD into her new computer, old HDD is an IDE, the one in her new computer is SATA. Once i put it in and connected the cables, closed the case and restarted it would get to the windows splash screen and shut down without warning. I tried to reboot a few times but it did the same thing. Took out the old HDD (left the original HDD in it) and then thought it would be fixed. It still does the same thing, will get to the splash screen and shut off.
I've tried to reboot in recovery mode, safe mode (with networking and command prompt), ive tried all other options that come up with f8. But everytime it will shut down on the splash screen. No beeps, no warnings. With safe mode, it will always shut down at crcdisk.sys.
Ive tried the CD that came with the computer, will load up until the splash screen of that and then shut down. I've also tried my windows 7 cd, windows vista cd, xp even. but same thing with those, it will get to the splash screen and shut down (i cant access any recovery options). Im not even able to preform a clean install if i wanted to.
I can't get into any command prompt to try a chkdsk or sfc.
Ive gone into BIOS, and rest the configuration settings, loaded fail safe defaults, as well as other options that might've helped.
I have no other ideas.
