Hi omoboy08,

Sorry for the delayed response.

If you can't boot normally, can't boot into safe mode, can't boot to disk, can't enter Advanced Boot Options or even BIOS (because function keys won't work), or access the system in any way, then it is almost certainly some type of hardware problem and you need to take it to a computer repair shop to be serviced. If we have absolutely no access to the system whatsoever by any possible means, then there's very little we can do to diagnose or repair the problem.

If you have another keyboard, try that. If you have another computer into which you can slave the hard drive, try that and see if you can access it. If so, post back and we'll give you some tests to run on it. Other than that and checking inside for connection problems or defects on the motherboard (like blown capacitors and such), I don't know what else to suggest.

Good luck!

I have inserted my hard disk into a friend's laptop (same model) and formatted the disk, reloaded it with a fresh vista installation and it worked perfected on the system without any error. But my problem now is, anytime i return disk back to the body it always ask to repair the the OS and gave options: Safe mode and other 3 options. it bounces back and restart anytime i try any of the 4 options. Am guessing hardware problem which i dont know what it could be. Any help plssssssss?

Hello and OK lets try this to see if it will make some repairs.

Click Start
Click all programs
click accessories
Right Click the command prompt
click run as administrator

When the command box comes up type these words sfc /scannow note the space between the sfc and the forward slash.

Let it run and don't click any buttons untill it is finishes, this can repair a lot in the os. After it is finished scanning and repairing come back and let us know what has happened.

Now you should run a Complete Full AV scan

Also download mawarebytes for free and do a full scan also.

@american, like i have said, it has not booted to windows but am suspecting hardware problem because, i successfully repair and restore via the f11 option. I ve even attempted the sfc /scannow that you adviced in the command prompt which was successful. This hard disk worked normally on another system of the same model. Is restarting after like 5sec of putting on and later prompted to boot normally or repair. Thanks for the response. Will be waiting

Hi there,
First, please post the exact model for your laptop as there appears to be several models for that number.

At the moment I think the only way we are going to get some where here is to gain access to the bios.

So please complete all the following tasks on the faulty laptop only.

When you boot the system & repeatedly press the F buttons does the system "Beep" to acknowledge the pressing of the keys?

If you remove the HDD (No system disk) & boot the system, can you get into the Bios then?

More information to follow once you have posted the model number.

Please be patient, we will respond.

When you were starting and pressing F8 did it say anything about accessing the Boot menu, or System. It can be anything F1,F12,ESC.
You need to change the boot order to boot from the DVD
When you are in that menu the mouse won't work as it's driver hasn't loaded yet
you will have to use the arrow keys.
You could try with a rescue disc then.

it is LG R400-5 INTEL CELERON M. Am only confused bcos d Hard disk work perfectly on another sys when i remove without asking to repair. But ask for repair when i take it back. That is why am guessin hardware prob. I dont expect a fresh installation to still be asking to repair. Ve blown dust from all component all to no avail. What is next for me now?
