BSOD - Randomly occurring while playing WoW

Hello,

A few days ago my system was running fine, until one of the caps on my old video card busted (a Geforce 8600 GT). I replaced it with a Geforce 9500 GT (don't want to spend money on a decent one before I replace the ancient MB I use).

At first I followed the instructions from the manufacturer, to uninstall the old drivers, reboot and install the new ones. The thing is that since then I've been welcomed with a number of random crashes occuring, both within the game and outside as BSODs.

I figured it would be some problem with the vga drivers, so I tried everything from older versions of the drivers to letting windows wizard do the update for me, and back to reinstalling the newest ones from the manufacturer.

Just to be sure this wasn't a memory issue I ran a memtest (11 passes and no errors).

I updated the chipset drivers and windows wouldn't boot at all, I had to restore a previous configuration to be able to turn on my machine. I'm really out of ideas as to
what is the cause of this problem.

I'm using Vista Home Premium 64bit, retail version. My hardware is about 2~3 years old, and I'm using this OS since january last year.

One more thing is that I could only get Perfmon and BSOD Dump & System File Collection to collect info in portuguese, since that's the language of my OS. If that's no good and there's a way to extract info in a more suitable language, I'll be posting attaching a new report asap.

Thanks in advance.

The reports that you have submitted reveal clues to the cause of your problem. They do not give a definitive answer. The more reports that we receive the more clues are made available improving our chances of finding a solution to your problem. Each remedy suggested must be performed regardless of placement in this report or other variables. You may have to experience several more BSODs until the final answer is discovered.

If overclocking restore normal settings

SFC /scannow
System Files - SFC Command

Scan with your Anti Virus

Update outdated listed drivers. If I have inadvertently listed any Microsoft Drivers, they can be ignored.

Asacpi.sys is a driver from the Austek Computer Corp. Your driver is very old and is known to cause BSOD's in current Windows versions; it must be updated
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx

How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html
and here
http://www.edbott.com/weblog/the-vista-master-driver-list/
To remove any left over driver remnants, especially from graphics cards, use driver sweeper
www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
You can also locate information about your driver using this information
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96442-device-manager-finding-unknown-devices.html

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs
http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/downloads
Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done:

Run the upgrade advisor to help discover hardware problems
www.microsoft.com/Windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Video card stress test Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/ (Follow all the above steps. If you still get BSOD follow this instruction)

After performing all of the above, post back with any new BSOD reports, or indicate that the attempted repairs were successful.
If any links do not work, if clicked, please copy and paste to browser address bar.
It is very important to remember that the dump reports only give clues as to the problem and although it is very easy to analyze only one or two, usually more are needed. If you experience additional BSOD after installing a current version of the driver in question, be sure to post so that we can use the additional information to assist you in preventing the BSOD's

Each any every step has to be followed to have the best chance of not having a repeat BSOD.
The most important however are
updating graphic drivers
Updating Asacapi
Removing SPTD
Updateing other drivers.

These steps plus updating my Vista to SP2 seems to have solved the problem.

Thank you very much for your trouble. If the problem persists I'll post again.

Let me be honest. It usually takes more than one BSOD to solve the problem, each gives a few clues. If the problem does persist you come back as much as you need to.
