programs dont start until I reboot -

Quickbooks doesn't want to print about half the time - I have to restart the computer - this is also happening with my Outlook in opening. All used to work - but now they don't - can't determine an exact time - but think it may have to do with updates that have been installed. Also, any Outlook updates have to be installed by manually going to the MS website. Running Vista 64-bit/Outlook 2007/and Quickbook 2007

If updates were just installe, remove via System Restore. If everythign works the way it should, set update to not install, but to notify.
Then install one at a time and test. If things work install the next.

I've tried System Restore - but really not sure how far to go back - since it's been doing this for quite a while in Quickbooks - just noticed it in Outlook - I have bought upgrades for both of those - so hopefully that may or may not solve the problem - also considering upgrading to Windows 7 - any advice there.

The decision to upgrade is an idividual one.
I can give you my experience.
Basically Windows 7 is Vista under the hood, but with a lot more eye candy and improvements.
Vista SP1 is not going to be supported much longer and SP2 will stop support a few years later.
    Seven is the now.
    Support and help is available.
Bottom line, I am happy that I went from Vista to Seven
You can buy an upgrade version for about $125.00.
If you do, you can come to our Seven Forums and I will show you how to install it just like it was the much more expensive full version.

Thanks - I think it's time - which is why I'm upgrading my software as well (Quickbooks will no longer support my version - and I try to keep Micro Office updated about every 4 years or so). Now - do you think I should upgrade to 7 before I upgrade the software programs or vice versa -

I will buy the upgrade that's available for 3 computers - I also have a laptop running Vista and a netbook that may or maynot be upgradable from XP.

I want you to have the best possible install with Seven. That requires a format.
You have to install all software after you install Seven.
You can use an upgrade Version of Seven and do a clean install.

I was going to save this until you came to our Seven Forums, but read and understand. Ask any questions, then do the install
A little extra hint, go to you tube and watch the procedure, too.

And last question - Home Premium or Professional - I have an interior design business - use a drawing program - accounting and that's about it - no gaming, etc. 2 computers are running 64-bit operating systems.

Nine out of ten people just need Home Premium. If you are going to use it for business purposes, I would say Professional, if you need the extra features

Thanks for all your help - will wait until after the taxes are done!!! Don't think I want to go there until then - especially with a "clean" install.
