BSOD on shutdown, maybe srvnet.sys?

Only when I try to shutdown I get the blue screen and I see a note about srvnet.sys and then the system reboots.

Compaq SR5234X vista sp2 always updated, AVG scanned and Malwarebytes scanned regularly. I also ran Microsoft Safety Scanner - Free online tool for PC health and safety

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

FYI: I'm a retired Motorola process engineer and have serviced many pc's with all Windows OS except Windows 7.

Hello,

It seems AVG is causing this. I suggest you remove the old version completely, using the tool found here: AVG - Download tools

Install the latest version.

In case it's the network adapter drivers causing AVG to crash, install the latest nForce package: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Let us know how that works out!

I'll try uninstalling and re-installing AVG as you recommend.
Can't do it for a while but I'll certainly post the results as soon as I can.
Thanks again.

R e s o l v e d ! ! !

:DThanks for the FANTASTICALLY prompt solution.
It was AVG.
I have used AVG for several years and I still had directories from AVG8, AVG9 and AVG 10.

1. I un-installed AVG from the add/remove programs.
2. I ran the AVG removal tool.
3. I manually removed the c:\program files\avg directories.
4. After a shutdown without any errors, I reinstalled AVG 2011 free ed.

PROBLEM is GONE!!

PS Should I close this thread or leave it open???

WHAT?? IT'S BACK AGAIN!!!
I've got to try sending the info again to see if it's the same problem but I noticed that when I had the AVG uninstalled it was gone. I thought it was gone when I re-installed the avg2011. Later I upgraded Adobe reader X and when it requested a re-boot the BSOD came back!!.
As I mentioned, it only shows up when I request a restart or a shutdown.
I'll have to get the data when I get back to the office on monday.
